CAP Collaborative Highlights: Prevention is Happening Everyday

Prevention is happening everyday all around us! One of the ways we encourage growth of the prevention field at PCAO is to welcome our CAP members to explore prevention through various forms of learning and information sharing. This could be formal learning, like conferences, training, articles etc. but this could also be informal, like music lyrics, comic strips, or a conversation they had with a friend. Prevention does not always come packaged in a curriculum, it is often found in the small interactions in our day to day lives. In CAP Collab, we really try to honor that prevention can show up in a lot of different ways and make lots of space for members to share amongst each other how it is perceived in their world.

How Does Media Shape Prevention?

This quarter, CAP Collab has been focused a lot on how media shapes prevention and our lives. From movies and tv shows, to music, to video games, to apps and AI, there are so many ways that media intersects with our lives. We asked our CAP Collab members:

If you could invite one movie/tv show character to join the prevention movement, who would it be and why?

Here are some of the members' answers, we hope you enjoy them!

Welcoming New CAP Collab Members

As a statewide, multidisciplinary collaborative, PCAO likes to share how we are diversifying our network and representing a variety of Oregon regions.

This quarter, we welcomed 7 new members! New members are helping increase the diverse perspectives in CAP Collab by representing the following new sectors and regions:

New Sectors of work: Child Welfare, Family Programming and Community Engagement, Early Childhood Advocacy, and Data/Research focused on prevention.
