Trauma-Responsive Consultation & Education with Doctor Amy

PCAO is proud to partner with Dr. Amy King to provide trauma-responsive training, education and consultation to child and family serving providers across the state.

Keep scrolling to learn more about our partnership and an exciting new offering: Trauma-Responsive Training for Providers working with Children and Families self-paced course!

The Story

Our partnership with Dr. Amy began in 2020 after our Community Leadership Council identified that parents and caregivers needed more trauma-responsive parenting support during the Covid-19 pandemic. After successfully providing high-quality, trauma-responsive education to more than 100 families, Dr. Amy and PCAO made the decision to shift our focus from working directly with families, to working directly with the wide array of providers all across the state who are serving children and families in their role. We have been blown away by the response to this series as providers across the state have shown up to learn, share, grow, be in community and care for each other across disciplines and across geography.

The Impact

The menu below highlights the impact from our 8-week Trauma-Responsive Professional Consultation Series that served a total of 120 child & family providers serving more than 2,710 families throughout Oregon.

The increased knowledge and skills gained by the social service and education providers have a systemic benefit for the families served now and throughout their careers. By strengthening the skills of the existing service providers, families receive more appropriate trauma-responsive services that better address their needs and increase their resiliency.

"This is so valuable and important for people working with families to have this training and support. If we want to see a shift in our society, we have to shift our approach. I can see it and feel it. Dr. Amy is helping professionals understand how to be more impactful in their work and their own lives. Please keep supporting this work. Thank you!”
